Gratitude
You are the two strongest people that I know,
With love and dedication, you have taught us how to grow.
Do everything for us– want nothing in return,
It is not enough, but a gold medal you should earn.
It wasn’t always easy, when we put up a fight,
Knowing in the end that you were almost always right.
Though we never had to give up striving for our dreams,
And I know it wasn’t always as easy as it seems.
Some of our aspirations were naïve- I see that now,
Yet when you said ‘really?’ we did let out a growl.
However, all our deepest and heart’s most desires
Were always taken serious and never thrown to fires.
I realise that even that did put you to the test,
Cause sometimes they were different than what you thought that was best.
But patiently you waited - gave us freedom, gave us space,
And step by step we managed to thrive at our own pace.
Without your guiding hand and heart, without your selfless soul,
We could not, would not, should not be standing here at all.
My brother and myself are what we are today
Because of all your past efforts and hassles – let me say.
And now that I am pregnant, I hope I’ll someday be
A hero of a parent as you two are to me.
